Skardu Airport Welcomes Its First International Flight from Dubai

In a historic moment, Skardu Airport witnessed its first international flight touchdown, coming directly from Dubai, earlier this week. Flight PK-234 began its journey from Dubai at 4:15 a.m. and, after a flight duration of four and a half hours, safely landed in Skardu, bringing 80 passengers along.

The welcoming ceremony at Skardu International Airport was nothing short of grand. The plane received a traditional water cannon salute upon arrival. Adding to the celebratory atmosphere, passengers were presented with bouquets, marking the importance of this inaugural international flight.

The news spread quickly on social media, with the Gilgit-Baltistan chief secretary sharing the momentous occasion on Twitter. His post read, “History in its making! The first international flight’s safe landing in Skardu is a moment to remember. This is a game-changer for tourism, connecting Skardu to the global community. a commendable move for boosting tourism and the region’s global reach.”

In a heartwarming coincidence, the flight departed from Dubai on August 14th, coinciding with Pakistan’s 76th Independence Day.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, shared his joy regarding this synchronization. He conveyed a message to travelers, urging them to showcase Pakistan’s scenic beauty and narrate their visual tales. He also took a moment to appreciate the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the GB administration for making the historic flight possible.
