PMDC Announces Rescheduled MDCAT 2023 Date and Exam Details

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has set a new date for the 2023 Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT). This change was in response to online student protests urging more preparation time. Following the uproar, the regulatory body revealed the revised test schedule. The notification confirmed that, under the Federal Secretary’s directive from the Ministry of National Health Service Regulations and Coordination Islamabad, the exam has been rescheduled to September 10, 2023 (Sunday).

The directives given by acting Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar also had an impact on this change in date. For 2023, PMDC has stated that the MDCAT syllabus will remain unchanged from the previous year.

MDCAT 2023 Overview:

  • Syllabus: Unchanged from the previous year.
  • Merit Calculation:
    • Matric score: 10%
    • Intermediate (FSc): 40%
    • MDCAT: 50%
  • Exam Details:
    • Total MCQs: 200
    • Duration: 3.5 hours
    • Passing Requirement for Medical College: 65%
    • Passing Requirement for Dental College: 55%
