Pakistan Launches First Confidential Court for Official Secrets Act Cases

Pakistan inaugurates its first confidential court specifically designed to handle cases under the Official Secrets Act. Learn more about this pivotal development in the country's legal landscape

Pakistan has inaugurated its first special court dedicated to cases under the Official Secrets Act (OSA). This move followed President Dr. Arif Alvi’s rejection of bills proposing an expansion of military influence.

Leading this distinct court will be Judge Abul Hasnat, originally from the Anti-Terrorism Court.

Notably, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, previously Pakistan’s foreign minister and a prominent figure alongside Imran Khan, is set to appear in this court due to a cipher-related matter.

All proceedings in this court will be held confidentially, in compliance with the law.
