PM Shehbaz Restores Public Holiday on Iqbal Day

In honor of Iqbal Day, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has declared a national holiday.

For a long time, there was no official holiday for Iqbal Day.

The PM has authorized the holiday, thus the 9th of November will now be a public holiday.

As per the official notification given by Secretary to the Prime Minister, Dr. Syed Tauqir Shah.

It is interesting to note here that the public holiday on Iqbal Day was suspended in 2015 during the previous tenure of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N).

Following the 2015 decision, a petition was moved to the Lahore High Court (LHC), contending that 9th November should be observed as a public holiday in memory of the national poet. PM Shehbaz Restores Public Holiday on Iqbal Day.

The citizens have also lauded the decision by the federal government to restore the public holiday on Iqbal Day, stating that the great poet must be commemorated with national reverence.

Meanwhile, PM Shehbaz has also notified a 22-member committee under the leadership of Senator Irfan Siddiqui to develop a detailed program of events, highlighting the life, work, and philosophy of Allama Iqbal during November.
